About This Option

A wooden ceiling adds warmth and texture overhead using timber battens, veneer-faced panels, WPC planks or laminate-finished sections, usually applied across part of the ceiling rather than the whole area. Slatted batten runs are the most common treatment because the rhythm gives a room direction and the gaps can conceal cove lighting or absorb some sound. Real timber and veneer need a stable substrate and a sealed finish, since ceilings collect heat and, in older buildings, moisture from the slab above, so treated ply or WPC is specified wherever dampness is a risk. Every panel is independently anchored into a supporting framework, because a ceiling failure is a safety issue rather than a cosmetic one. Wooden ceilings work especially well over dining tables, above the bed in a master bedroom, and in entrance foyers where a defined overhead zone is useful.
