False Ceiling
Plaster of Paris ceilings with smooth curves and custom mouldings — classic Indian interior finish.
A POP ceiling is formed by applying plaster of Paris over a board or fibre base and hand-finishing it on site, which makes it the better option when the design calls for curves, domes, arches or custom mouldings that a board system cannot shape. Because it is worked by hand, cornices and running mouldings can follow any profile and be repaired seamlessly later using the same material. POP needs drying time between coats and creates more site mess than gypsum, so we sequence it ahead of painting and flooring wherever possible. The base framework is checked for level before plastering, since POP conceals small imperfections but not a sloping plane. It remains the most common ceiling finish in Indian homes for classic and traditional interiors, and pairs naturally with cove lighting and chandelier drops.
